In this project you will have the opportunity to enjoy the paradisiacal Puerto Escondido while supporting the preservation of different species of sea turtles that nest on these coasts. Together with our allies you will participate in day and night activities that will allow you to learn how thousands of turtles are protected each year. On the other hand, you will promote environmental education, through different initiatives to generate a real change in this area. Then we will get to know everything that this wonderful city has to offer us, its wonderful food and spectacular sunsets.

Nuestro Itinerario

Meeting Point: House for volunteers in Bajos de Chilá Let the adventure begin! On the day of arrival in Puerto Escondido, our meeting point with the entire group will be at the volunteer accommodation in Bajos de Chilá. We will settle into our rooms and have an introduction to the program from our local partners.

Days of volunteering, you will explore the coasts of Mexico with different eyes; You will support marine and wildlife conservation projects. Key Activities: Night Patrol: You will have to travel the coasts in search of nesting turtles, if we are lucky we will witness one of the most wonderful things in nature. We will protect the nesting process and we will monitor and identify the turtles that reach the coast. Nest cleaning – If it is hatching season, we will have to clean the nests and make it perfect for the next turtles. This activity is extremely important since it can affect the next litter of turtles. Turtle release: Only 7% are released through tourism and they are turtles that are being given a second chance at life. Your mission in this activity is to educate the tourist and establish the conditions so that it is done in the most responsible way possible. Beach cleaning: If it is season, we can carry out a team beach cleanup.

Day to enjoy little-known gems of Puerto Escondido and its beaches! We will visit the beaches of the coast of Oaxaca: Mazunte, known for being a spiritual destination that earned its fame because a few years ago it was a completely virgin beach. You will visit Zipolite and San Agustinillo so that we finish in Punta Cometa watching an iconic sunset. We will return to Puerto Escondido in the afternoon to spend the night.

Day to get to know one of the magical and mysterious lagoons that Puerto Escondido houses: Manialtepec. At the end of breakfast we will head towards this destination. We will have the opportunity to stop at an artisanal mezcal factory to learn about this process. Later, we will arrive at mid-day at the Lagoon where we will enjoy a boat tour and cross small channels made of mangroves. You will enjoy the flora and fauna of the area, as you will be able to see birds, crocodiles and more throughout the trip. You will enjoy the incredible landscapes that this lagoon offers. We will eat in Puerto Suelo and later we will enjoy the sunset on the seashore. During bioluminescence season, we will have the opportunity to close our day watching this spectacular phenomenon. Finally we will return to our transportation, which will take us back to Puerto Escondido.

How can I be part?

By pressing the APPLY button, a form will open in which we will ask you some questions to find out if you have the ideal profile to join this trip. For us, the group is extremely important, which is why we take this seriously. We recommend that you take the time necessary to fill it out and explain to us in detail your motivations and why you want to be part of this unique experience.

Among all the requests, our specialized team will create a small group. After confirming the payment of the section you will secure your place.

From this moment on, our team will help you at all times with prior preparation. What are the best flights, what to bring in your backpack and all the doubts that may arise prior to the trip.

To apply for any of the projects you must click on the “Apply Now” button where you will fill out a question form and specify which project you want to go to and on what date.

A person from our team will receive your application and will contact you within no more than 2 days. As part of the process, you will be asked some questions to see the relevance of your application to the selected project in addition to answering your questions. Once this is done, you will be able to make the section for your place if you have been accepted to the project.

Once accepted to the program, you will be shared a link where you can make your deposit of $150 USD that is part of your final package, then the remainder is divided into 3 equal payments to be settled in the following scheme:

Cash payments are not accepted and your package must be settled no later than one month before your trip.

You will be responsible for purchasing your flights, however you will receive support and guidance from your experience coordinator to do so once the section is completed. The arrival airport and a recommended route will be provided once you are part of the group.

*Important: If you decide to fly days before or leave after the established dates of your project, TWC is NOT responsible for your stay or any extra expenses incurred, or activities that are not carried out due to late arrival.

Experience coordinator: This is the person who will follow you remotely before your trip, guide you in searching for flights, visas, vaccines and travel preparations.

Ambassador: This person will accompany you in person during your package. He is the leader of the group and will coordinate all activities

Guides: Generally, they are the experts of the destination who will tell us about each of the places visited on the guided tours.

Allies: They are the people in charge of the social project for the community we will assist.

Travelers: These are the other travelers who sign up for your same project and on the same date. With them you will live your experience and form great bonds of friendship.

Travelers With Cause is a social company registered since January 2018. We mobilize more than 1,000 travelers a year and we have registration with the Secretary of Tourism in Mexico. You will also be accompanied throughout your entire process from the moment you apply for one of our programs. until you come back from it.

We do not travel to countries with political or social instability, or places that may be dangerous in certain ways. The safety of our travelers is a priority.

It is important that you know that it is mandatory to travel with travel insurance since this will be of great support in case of any contingency. We will be able to support you later in your process so that you can get one that fits your needs.
